Shock by Robin Cook was awesome. I love to read Robin Cook’s work. Being a medical doctor himself, he has the ability to write about the medical profession in a fictional way that makes it more believable. In this particular novel, we have two young women who donate eggs to an infertility clinic, but then become curious as to whether or not children were ever born from those eggs. Using subterfuge, they gain access to the records, and let’s just say, there was a lot more than meets the eye to that clinic! This is a definite page turner and I suggest this book highly to anyone who likes medical mystery/thriller/horror novels. My only regret about the book is that the women’s status at the end of the book was unclear.
I give this 5 out of 5 stars.
This movie was BORING! My best friend and I watched it together and we couldn’t get into it. We were just bored throughout the entire thing. It was based on the true story of Elizabeth Short, who was murdered back in the 1940’s out in Hollywood. But they messed it up by “solving” the case when the case was never really solved. The acting was good, although I’ve never particularly cared for Scarlett Johansen (I don’t even know how to properly spell her name). But the acting was very good, the script just didn’t thrill me. All in all, I really didn’t care for The Black Dahlia at all.
I’d give it 1 out of 5 stars.
All I can say is wow. Granted, being Wiccan, I know better than anyone that “powers” like that aren’t real, but it would be nice sometimes! This movie was better than I had expected it to be. The story line was easy to follow, although it was easy to figure out who the 5th Son of Ipswich was before they actually made it known. I also guessed how the “good guy” would be able to defeat the “bad guy” before it actually happened, but hey, there’s a lot of movies that are that transparent and are still awesome movies. The Covenant is one of them.
I have to say, there isn’t much scary about this movie, and being from the makers of Underworld, I can honestly say, it’s the same type of film. Very good, and I definitely recommend it.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
I have to say, I love the Blackeyed Peas, and if anyone remembers them, Fergie used to be in Wild Orchids, which is another group I loved. So when I found that Fergie had in fact released a solo CD as I’d heard she was planning to, I was ecstatic. And I must say that I was NOT disappointed.
The Dutchess is wonderful from Fergalicious right down to Glamorous and Here I Come. You absolutely have to hear this CD to believe it. She has a brilliant voice and vocal range. This is one CD I highly recommend you pick up.
This one gets 5 out of 5 stars.
Unfortunately, although I’m sure there are people who greatly enjoyed this movie, I found it to be slow and very difficult to remain interested in. It didn’t take me long to figure out who the actual murderer was, and frankly, I was bored throughout the movie. The Return really wasn’t that suspenseful in my opinion, and it definitely wasn’t frightening by any sense of the word.
I’d give it 2 out of 5 stars.
