Godsmack Live in Sioux City

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

Tonight I had the extreme pleasure of seeing one of my favorite bands, Godsmack, live. They played at Sioux City’s Orpheum Theater. Now to my notion, the Orpheum is not particularly suited to metal concerts as they don’t have a “general admission” floor, just seats. But the concert was still awesome!

The opening band was a group from Kansas City called The Leo Project. They were really good, and the drummer did something I haven’t seen in years, he twirled his sticks in between drumbeats. I remember when Rikki Rockett of Poison and Blas Elias of Slaughter used to do that, over 10 years ago! It was nice to see a drummer do that again. Although The Leo Project was very good, the crowd didn’t get into them so far as getting up out of their seats. They cheered and screamed, but remained seated for the most part. The Leo Project did their own material, which gave them a plus in my book.

When Godsmack came out, there was a video of them shown, then a live camcorder feed that showed them on their way from the dressing room to the stage. Very cool. They played songs from their self titled debut, Awake, and IV. I confess I haven’t listened much to Faceless and The Other Side and don’t know if any of the songs were from those CDs. I don’t own IV either, but it goes to follow that if they’re touring in support of IV, then they played SOMETHING from it! The show was totally awesome, and I screamed myself to the point of almost throwing up. NOT headbanging was NOT an option. And as Sully said, there was only one rule….”Get the f**k up!”

This is definitely a show to catch, especially when they move the drum kit to one side, and another drum kit slides out with Sully behind it. It’s the bomb, and you HAVE to see it to believe it. I definitely recommend catching a Godsmack show if you are into them. You won’t be disappointed!

I give this 5 out of 5 stars!

Black X-Mas

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

Talk about your predictable movies. I got about half way through it and figured it out. The only thing I wasn’t sure about what which of the characters would make it out of the house. Black X-mas was one of those movies that I suggest you find someone who bought it and borrow it from them, because really, it wasn’t worth the price I paid to buy it, and I wouldn’t even have paid to rent this one. Too predictable, and it could have been way better than it was. It really could. It was ok, but really could have been better.

I give it 2 out of 5 stars.
