All I can say when it comes to Wizard’s Daughter by Catherine Coulter is WOW! You have to understand, all I’ve ever seen from Catherine Coulter are FBI romantic suspense novels and historical romance novels that are a bit on the generic side. Same old, same old. Not this one!
Yes, it’s a historical romance novel, but it’s not dealing so much with the romance as it is with a fantasy story. It comes under the guise of another Sherbrooke Family book, but let me tell you, it’s anything but. Rosalind and Nicholas are destined to meet, destined to be together. But why? Well, frankly, because Rosalind is the debt that Nicholas Vail’s family owes.
This book was delightful and so very difficult to put down, what with a girl (Rosalind) who was found half beaten to death and unable to remember her past, a book with a strange code that ONLY Rosalind can read, and a fantastical world called The Pale which is a place that exists, even if it seems far too silly for it to be true. Add in Nicholas’ step mother and half brothers who hate his guts, and you’ve got one hell of a great book.
I highly recommend this book to any Catherine Coulter fan who has fallen by the wayside after reading so many of her other books. You will surely be impressed and fall in love with this book.
Well, late though I am, it’s time for yet another Booking Through Thursday. This time, there’s an interesting question.
All other things (like price and storage space) being equal, given a choice in a perfect world, would you rather have paperbacks in your library? Or hardcovers? And why?
If price and storage space were equal for paperbacks and hardbacks, I’d still pick the paperbacks. They fit in a purse, they don’t have dust jackets that get lost, and they’re easier to hold in my hands. I agree with Joana that for display purposes when it comes to collecting an author or series, that hardback looks nicer, but other than that, I’m not a fan of hardback books.

Ok, here is the first of the three book reviews I need to catch up on. This one is for Revenant by Carolyn Haines. I finished this book in January which tells you how behind I am.
This one was a great thriller. Just enough romance to keep things going, but not enough to make me want to barf because of it. No, I am not too fond of sappy books. This one had some romance, but not the sappy stuff. For this, I am entirely grateful.
On the flip side, it’s an awesome book to read, and I had a very difficult time putting it down. A reporter who spends most of her time drunk gets caught up in a mystery when a serial killer starts killing again after a twenty-five year break. You have to read this one to believe it. I was skeptical at first, but a few pages in, I was hooked. It’s on my list to pass along on paperbackswap, and I happen to have a second copy as well, so if you want it, I’d look for it. My nickname at PBS is Charli.
Yes, it’s late. Oh well. Here’s the Valentine’s Day version of Booking Through Thursday.
Have you ever fallen out of love with a favorite author? Was the last book you read by the author so bad, you broke up with them and haven’t read their work since? Could they ever lure you back?
Well, frankly, I’ve fallen out of love with Danielle Steele. I used to love her books and I collected them as each came out. However, over the years, I’ve come to notice that the scenery and characters change, but the general gist of the stories don’t. Huge tragedy in which someone finds love in the ashes. After a bit, it got boring to me. So I quit reading her books. She became, to me, a read one - read ‘em all author.
Just to let you know, I’m backlogged with 2 3 books finished but not reviewed yet. I still have a BTT question to answer from last week with this week’s looming on the horizon. I will prevail however, so look for a couple of book reviews and a BTT answer, even if it is a week late, sometime tonight or tomorrow.
Once again, a day late, it is time for Booking Through Thursday. Here is this week’s question, after which I must take my dog outside again.
Okay, even I can’t read ALL the time, so I’m guessing that you folks might voluntarily shut the covers from time to time as well… What else do you do with your leisure to pass the time? Walk the dog? Knit? Run marathons? Construct grandfather clocks? Collect eggshells?
Well, I blog, I work, I make graphics, I crochet, I cross stitch, I watch CSI & CSI Miami. That’s about it. I’m pretty boring otherwise. LOL
