Night Game by Christine Feehan

Posted by: Charli    in My Thoughts

All I can honestly say is, wow. The Ghost Walkers series gets better and better with every book. “Night Game” is the third book in the series and I have to say I was no less impressed with this book than I was the first two.

In the first two books you hear a little bit of talk of some of the girls - Lily, Dahlia, and Iris (Flame). Flame, as she prefers to be called, is the centerpiece female for Night Game. You’re also introduced, in the first two books, to a few of the men - Ian, Ryland, Nicolas, Gator, Kadan, & Tucker. Others come into play in the following books, but Raoul “Gator” Fontenot is the centerpiece male for Night Game.

Dr. Peter Whitney’s experiments did not stop with psychic powers, as both Flame and Gator know very well. Both were also genetically enhanced by Whitney - they are faster and stronger and can jump higher than ordinary humans. They also carry the same psychic powers - both control sound and animals. The only difference is - Whitney purposely gave Flame cancer and put it into remission twice. This was no ordinary cancer either - this one was designed by Whitney to make sure that Flame would have to return to him.

When Gator returns home to help his family find a family friend who has gone missing, Lily asks him to check the bayou for Flame, as she believes Flame may be there. Gator finds Flame easily enough, but she’s not willing to ever be brought back to Whitney’s clutches. And she isn’t about to believe that Peter Whitney is dead. As the story unfolds, doubts run high that Whitney really is dead - catching all of the Ghost Walkers, male and female alike, in a war against an enemy who may be known or unknown - and that will continue on through the Ghost Walkers series.

This book brings a greater sense of drama to the Ghost Walkers series, as well as brings up suspense - you can’t help but question yourself whether or not Peter Whitney is alive. While nothing is proven in this book, you know that at some point in the series it will be proven that he’s dead or that he’s alive. And believe me, I’m chomping at the bit to get the next book in the series so I can find out what happens!

Mind Game - Christine Feehan

Posted by: Charli    in My Thoughts

I finished Mind Game, the 2nd book in the Ghost Walkers series a couple of days ago, and I have to say, as always, I was highly impressed. Christine Feehan is a master of paranormal romance and this was no exception. This book was one I hated to put down between the suspense of what was going to happen and the sizzling attraction between the main characters.

Dahlia LeBlanc is a Ghost Walker. One of Dr. Peter Whitney’s first psychic enhancement experiments, she has powers that can amaze and frighten all at once. The only problem is, as with other Ghost Walkers, her natural psychic barriers have been torn down and she can’t function near people. Nicolas Trevane is the same way - but his is a preference to be alone rather than a need in order to be safe. But when Dahlia and Nicolas meet, sparks fly and that attraction just can’t be denied. Add to this that Nicolas is an anchor and Dahlia desperately needs one, and you’ve got the makings of a great match.

But when danger strikes, it’s going to take as many resources as possible to find out what’s going on. Betrayal and murder abound - and the ending is one you’ll never guess. I couldn’t even begin to guess at the ending, and I’m usually pretty good at that. ;)

Another five star book from Christine Feehan. This is my fourth and final book for the RIP III Challenge. I hope to participate again next year. :)

Shadow Game

Posted by: Charli    in My Thoughts

I recently finished “Shadow Game” by Christine Feehan. I’ve had the book for a couple of years now, but had never actually sat down and read it. I remember getting “Mind Game” first and then finding out it was the 2nd in a series and putting it down. “Shadow Game” is the first book in that series - the GhostWalker Series.

As per usual, this one was a masterpiece. If you’ve ever wondered what you’d get if you matched up 2 people who have psychic abilities, such as telepathy, look no further. This book has it all, love, betrayal, military espionage.

When a group of men from the Special Forces divisions of the military and even some special task groups of the civilian law enforcement are brought together for an experiment in psychic abilities, someone decides that these secrets are too good to keep to themselves. When people start dying over it though, that’s when Dr. Lily Whitney, the daughter of the doctor conducting the experiment and Ryland Miller, the leader of that group of men realize they need to do something about it. Our villains want the secrets they believe Lily possesses and they want them now!

It’s up to Lily, her most trusted associates, Ryland, and his men to save the day and to help Ryland and his men to be able to function in the world with their newly enhanced psychic talents. Along the way, they discover some shocking things - which you’ll just have to read the book to find out about. :)

As I said, this was an awesome book and I give it 5 stars easily.

Turbulent Sea

Posted by: Charli    in My Thoughts

The other day I had the pleasure of finishing “Turbulent Sea” by Christine Feehan. It’s one of her Drake Sisters novels. I own three of them - “Oceans Afire”, “Dangerous Tides”, and “Turbulent Sea.” I’ve read 2 of them. I read “Oceans Afire” a couple years ago. I bought “Dangerous Tides” and promptly lost it among all the books I own.

I purchased “Turbulent Sea” when I needed to have a book to read with me. I wasn’t disappointed in it at all. Then again, I’ve never been disappointed in any of Christine Feehan’s books. Seriously, the woman writes the most amazing paranormal romance novels I’ve ever read. Well, her and Maggie Shayne. It’s a tie between those two for the best. :)

Now Turbulent Sea is about sister #6, Joley. Joley’s gift is spell-singing. Not surprisingly, since she’s susceptible to sound and she sees music, she’s a rock singer and a very popular one. But she’s been marked by a Russian bodyguard named Ilya Prakenskii and he’s not about to let her get away from him! He shows some remarkable talents of his own as well!

This book was action packed, and a real page turner! It was hard for me to put it down when I had to. It made me realize that I need to obtain the rest of the series and read it from beginning to end. It’s an awesome series and I intend to get the rest and read them!
